Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival wrapped up their final premium runway show in celebration of Instyle magazine’s 15th birthday on Friday night. Strutting the runway with our favourite look from the week, Priceline teamed up with Rae Morris and Kenneth Stoddart to create the dreamiest winged eyes and shiny locks this fashion festival has to offer. Read on the catch all the exclusive backstage details the team at Couturing captured at Premium Runway 7 Presented by InStyle.
MAKEUP BY RAE MORRIS SUPPORTED BY RIMMEL AT PRICELINE
Rae Morris teamed up with Rimmel cosmetics at Priceline to create the most perfect winged eyes and we have all the products she used to achieve the look. Using Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation for the base, Rae and her team of professionals applied a light base onto the primed skin and highlighted the cheekbones using different shades to create a matte finish.
“A modern twist on the 60’s, with an intense lash to match the intense bold winged eyeliner, it’s matte, matte, matte!,” says Morris.
Brushing the brows ever so slightly using Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil, Rae used Rimmer Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Stick in Whiteness White to highlight under the brows and add a youthful look to the models eyes. Pairing Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Gel Eye Liner in Black and an angled brush, Rae brushed the liner close to the lash line and added a thick wing out to the temples for maximum definition.
Lashes were on full display with Manicare Glam Eyes Adriana Lash falsies applied and finished with a swipe of Rimmel Wonder’full Mascara with Argan Oil in Black. What we love most about this mascara is the added benefits from Argan Oil, promising to care for your lashes while adding mega volume and length.
“Combined with contoured cheeks soft but full shaped brows and soft pink nude lips keeps this look young and fresh,” says Morris.
A swipe of Rimmel Matte Finish Lipstick in 113 was the perfect lip colour to focus attention on the eyes and finish the look.
HAIR BY KENNETH STODDART SUPPORTED BY SCHWARZKOPF AT PRICELINE
Taking inspiration from the 90s minimal and voluminous hair, Kenneth and his team of professionals created the long luscious locks with immaculate shine that swept down the runway at Premium Runway 7 Presented by Instyle.
“The hair is very clean and minimal and definitely the trend running through the shows for this season,” says Stoddart.
“We are doing a salon blow-dry and polishing it off with hot irons towards the bottom to keep the volume at the ends of the hair.”
Models were fitted with hair extensions for length and a blunt cut with a sharp centre part was the style of the night. To recreate the look for the weekend, follow Kenneth’s tips below:
Step 1 – Apply OSIS Hair Body Volume Spray all over the hair
Step 2 – Apply Silhouette Mousse Flexible Hold all over thoroughly
Step 3 – Put in a centre part
Step 4 – Starting at the bottom, blow dry the hair section by section up to the part
Step 5 – Once complete, put in extensions to fill out bottom line so that it can be cut to one length
Step 6 – Re-blow dry the hair with the extensions to join them all together, and pin with a padded clip flat behind the ears whilst still warm
Step 7 – Spray a light spraying of Silhouette Hairspray Flexible Hold through sides
“We used a strong hold mousse in through the front and blowdried it really flat to the head and tucked it behind the ears with pressing tissues,” says Stoddart.
“This will keep the volume and lovely bounce and thickness to the hair,
“The difference this season is the flat hair on the top doesn’t wear and is the same texture throughout except it’s clean and flat with a hint of volume.”
