Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival kicked off its first Premium Runway show tonight at Central Pier for the Miss Vogue presentation. Partnering with Melbourne’s highly anticipated fashion week for the first time, Priceline Australia brought along Makeup Director Rae Morris and Hair Director Kenneth Stoddart to lead a team of professionals backstage. We headed backstage to catch a glimpse of spring’s upcoming beauty trends.
MAKEUP BY RAE MORRIS SUPPORTED BY L’OREAL PARIS
Full brows, fresh skin and a hint of contouring were all the talk at tonight’s Miss Vogue presentation. Makeup director Rae Morris teamed up with L’Oreal Paris to create the beautifully understated ‘no-makeup’ makeup look.
For a clear and fresh complexion, Morris used L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Foundation to cover the base and L’Oreal Paris Glam Bronze in La Terra for a light contour along the cheekbones, temples and cupids bow. Adding a hint of Luma by Jess Hart Illuminating Highlighter under the eyes and brushing it on the upper cheekbones added a natural glow to the models features. Big brows took center stage using L’Oreal Paris Brow Artist Plumper to define and enhance the brows natural shape.
“It’s all about youth, so we want the skin to look fresh and clean like you’re not wearing any foundation, full brows and just a hint of contouring,” says Morris.
Soft shading along the cheekbones and around the eyes offered up an understated look, with barely there eye shadow using L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Eyeshadow Monos in Breaking Nude and finishing the look with L’Oreal Paris Telescopic Mascara in Black on the upper lashes.
A swipe of Maybelline Color Sensational Stripped Nudes in Tantalizing Taupe on the lips enhanced the models natural lip colour.
HAIR BY KENNETH STODDART
Complimenting the natural makeup look, Hair Director Kenneth Stoddart and his team of professionals created a sharp center part hairdo. Stoddart applied OSIS Hairbody Volume Style and Care to the hair for maximum volume before adding OSIS Grip Volume Extreme Mousse through the sides and over the ear.
To recreate the look, take a centre part from the front to the back of your head, blow dry section by section from the bottom to the top using a brush to polish the hair without removing all movement. Using Hairspray Silhouette Flexible to hold down the hair, lightly smooth hair to keep flyways down.
