Iconic sunglass brand Le Specs has collaborated with rising US design talent, Adam Selman and the result is a capsule collection of statement making frames, high on sex-appeal and Le Specs’ ever-present sense of humour.
The campaign imagery for the Le Specs x Adam Selman collaboration were shot by photographer Philipe Jarrigeon and stylist Mel Ottenberg in Selman’s New York home. Fuelled by disco soundtracks, the shoot is inspired by the evocative and boundary pushing Polaroid series shot by Antonio Lopez in the 70’s.
The collection has just hit stores, and was presented during New York fashion week over champagne and cocktails at Hotel Americano on the evening of Tuesday 17th February.
Le Specs are always on the lookout for rebellious talent, with a serious design eye. Selman, who cut his teeth designing costumes for Michael Jackson, the Scissor Sisters and most notably Rihanna, only debuted his eponymous ready-to-wear collection last September, and Le Spec’s didn’t hesitate in identifying his potential to hit cult status.
“We were looking to work with someone who could create something truly unique and push the envelope in terms of attitude and energy,” said Le Specs Designer, Hamish Tame. “Adam knows what the ‘it’ girls want. His approach is cheeky and fun, which works so well with the Le Specs brand.”
“The glasses came about by reinventing some of my most memorable eyewear moments in film,” added Selman. “The allure of Catherine Deneuve in The Hunger meets the mischievousness of Sue Lyon in Lolita.”
