How do you prep before a night out? Like have a glass of champagne? A mask to hydrate your skin?
I usually think about what occasion I’m dressing up for and what the dress code is. And depending on my mood, sometimes I like to go for a feminine look with a bold red lipstick and a cool statement top or jacket.
What is your go to hairstyle/makeup look for a night out?
I either go for a statement eye or a statement lip. Sometimes I even arrange my outfit around my makeup! I also try to match my hairstyle, like slicked back hair or a bun with smokey eye makeup, or if I’m doing a bold lipstick look, then I’ll leave my hair down.
When you’re going out, what are your must have items in your bag?
I always carry a perfume bottle, but my scent is changing all the time. I love a rose scent, the one in my bag at the moment is Rose De Mai. I also always carry a lipgloss as well as the other necessities: my phone, keys and wallet. I love listening to music on the way to an event, so I’ll also keep my earphones in my bag.
Do you have any tips for looking fresh all night long?
I always touch up during the night, so I’ll swipe off a layer of my foundation and apply a fresh layer. I also like to go over my eyeliner once, wipe any smudges and put some moisturising balm on my lips before re-applying lipstick.
Your biggest fashion faux pas?
Camo prints – when I was a kid I had a pair of camo print pants with all these pockets, I thought it was so cool. There was even a time I wore really high socks that went over my knees. My style has evolved over time, I like a more classic style now, something that you can wear every season but style it slightly differently.
What designers are you currently loving and why?
I am loving local designers such as Nicola Finetti, Rena Hang, Yeojin Bae, White Suede, Micky In The Van, Ginger & Smart, Sheike, Mossman and Shakuhachi for its amazing prints and shapes. Some of my favourite accessories companies are Wanted Shoes, Alias Mae, Kitte Accoutrement, Artelier, Susanna Galanis, 8 Other Reasons, Nina Valero, Nick Campbell, HI Creative, Sunglass Hut.
Favourite places to shop:
With online shopping, it’s the usual culprits The Iconic, Asos, River Island. I love physically going into stores to try on clothes so that I can feel the textures. Some of my favourite stores are Seagulls of St Kilda, The Estelle Store.
Where do you look for style inspiration?
In terms of street style inspiration, I like the work of Colin Gold (the man behind all the incredible TheTrendSpotter photography, my husband, my best friend, my muse), Phil Oh, Street Smith. A lot of people inspire me, they don’t have to be the famous style icons or celebrities. It could be a girl I saw on a tram, a stylish friend or one of the fashionistas we capture on our camera when we shoot for TheTrendSpotter style gallery. I also think personality carries the outfit.
