Often called the most fashionable day on the Spring Racing calendar, Crowns Oaks Day, AKA ladies day, saw the Birdcage embrace a more relaxed atmosphere…and guests embracing a more feminine aesthetic.
EMIRATES
After the rush to reserve a space in one of the most covetable marquees in the birdcage for the Cup, Oaks Day at Emirates proved to be a more relaxed affair…but with no shortage of celebrity guests. German lingerie model Ann-Kathrin Brömmel was the special guest of the day, looking stunning in a fitted coral cocktail dress. Also spotted in the marquee was a demurely dressed Brynne Edelstein and Masterchef‘s Matt Preston.
LEXUS
The Lexus marquee easily won for being the most beautiful, with the middle level’s canopy of florals and recycled light globed designed by Joost Bakker, to the herb wall of the roof top terrace. Guests including Jamie Durie and key members of the Lexus Australia team were treated to G.H.Mumm champagne and delicious treats by Attica.
LAVAZZA
Laves retained its reputation as the party marquee, with performances by X Factor‘s Samantha Jade, and appearances by some of Australia’s youngest style stars, like Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Girl. As the afternoon led on, the DJ took over proceedings with the perfect juxtaposition between old and new, with guests dancing to EDM against the backdrop of the Renaissance mural.
SCHWEPPES
If Lavazza is the party hub of the Birdcage, then neighbouring Schweppes is the cool bar you head to before. With the mixologists behind the bar serving up fresh takes on old favourite cocktails, and the rustic outdoor area – the atmosphere was relaxed, comfortable and with a dash of Southern sass.
