CAULFIELD CUP BEST DRESSED

Longer hemlines, feminine silhouettes and modern textures were the order of the day at this weekend’s Caulfield Cup, with the country’s best dressed fillies putting a contemporary spin on traditional race wear.

Well heeled punters within the exclusive David Jones marquee opted for muted colours and midi lengths. Maiden Sydney’s Brooke Testoni combined the subtle sex appeal of an exposed décolletage with a more traditional voluminous silhouette and ankle grazing hem in a Zimmermann number that epitomised the fresh, sophisticated look that reigned supreme trackside. Emma Freedman dazzled in navy and black fringed Willow, while Neighbours star Olympia Valance sported a modern bohemian look in a Thurley maxi.

Headpieces were either oversized and architectural or small and intricate, with highly structured futuristic materials and minimalistic hardware becoming two strongest head gear trends of the day- ones to watch as we approach the Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington next month.

Caulfield Style Ambassador Nicole Warne opted for understated glamour- a sleek cut in a statement colour by Dion Lee was her look for the day. Caulfield Social Ambassador Scherri-Lee Biggs donned graphic florals in Finders Keepers, while star stylist Lana Wilkinson stole the show in a Scanlan Theodore jumpsuit.

Stay tuned for Couturing’s to-the-minute coverage of Flemington’s Melbourne Cup Carnival street style next month.
