From a label that started out providing the perfect t-shirt, bassike has gone from strength to strength. With its minimalist approach to fashion, it has quickly garnered a cult following. After the success of its Hawsburn store, bassike have once again opened its doors in Melbourne. Talking about the expansion into the city, bassike co-founder Deborah Sams said “Bassike has received a really positive response in Melbourne since opening the Hawksburn store almost two years ago. We’re so pleased to have now found this unique space in which to present our brand to a city customer.”
Bassike will be opening the doors to its new home in a 1890’s two-story boutique on Rankins Lane which was formerly home to a horse stable. The space has been redesigned to add a modern touch to a classic building, much like the brand design concept bassike is built on. Beautiful wooden floorboards form the perfect base to display the company’s iconic soft jersey designs. The original brickwork, warehouse windows, hardwood flooring, internal archways and solid fireplaces enhance the historic feel of the space.
Set over two floors, the space is divided into four rooms, each with their own distinct personality. The ground floor is split between a women’s co-op space showcasing the brand’s Japan-made denim and organic cotton jersey collection. The top floor will display the premium women’s ready-to-wear collection.
To celebrate the launch, guests will enjoy a customised menu prepared by Cooke’s Food, cocktails by Ciroc Vodka and Capi mixers, Bollinger Champagne, Kirin Cider and beer and biodynamic wines by Krinklewood, with Melbourne DJs Otologic entertaining the crowds.
