Makeup by Mecca Cosmetica
Lead Makeup Artist Bec Shannon said that the look for the show was inspired by the typical Melbourne girl – minimalist and relaxed but well groomed. Skin looks fresh and glowing, and clear without the trapping a heavy base.
Skin looked like it was wet, like it had been “caught in an afternoon spring rain shower” creating a fresh and glowing look. Much of the base used Chantecaille Liquid Lumiere Anti-Ageing Face Illuminator with a bit of Ellis Faas Skin Veil Foundation and Stila High Definition Beauty balm. Malin + Geotz lip balm was added to the high points on the face to give a bit of glistened shine. Nars Matte Multi was used to create cheek lift and warmth under the apples of the cheek. For the eyes, Mecca Cosmetics Beauty Sleep Artistry Eye Brightener was use on the inner rim.
The look was given a modern twist with a solid brick red lipstick, a colour that Bec says is suitable for any skin tone and works well with black and nude colour palettes. The NARS lipstick in Fire Down Below is a rich colour that might be thought of as a Winter colour, but Bec said that this colour was an all round year colour that suited all skin types. The lipstick is a satin matte and hydrating for the lips, a definite colour to have in the makeup kit.
Brows have changed a lot over the last year and is key to anchor a neutral eye. A linear and thicker brow was created using a lighter coloured pencil to fill in the brow and lengthening it.
Hair by Kevin Murphy
Kevin’s inspiration for the look he created for Runway 2 was the shape and movement of hair as it comes out of the water.
The slick back hair showed a gentle simplicity at the front, but the waves and curls at the back showed something different. Hair was pulled back and twisted and curled to body and texture, then the mass of hair had string gently weaved through it to give strength to the hair.
To create the look, Kevin used SHIMMER.SHINE through the hair to treat and repair hair and give it a bit of shimmer. Then he used ANTI.GRAVITY to prepare the hair and a large curling iron to create the big waves. SUPER.GOO, a no flake, water soluble setting and molding gel was then used to smooth the hair and give a slicked back look.
