Paris Fashion Week has wrapped up and Couturing has the best beauty looks from the AW14 shows. From the makeup and hair to the finely detailed nails, we have you covered.
LANVIN A/W14
Wet hair splashed down the runway at Lanvin‘s A/W14’show with wet textures incorporated to complement the dark, nighttime feel. The up-do glistened on the runway with a messy bun secured low at the base of the head. Redken Global Styling Director Guido Paulo created this look exclusively for the runway saying, “With a wet-shine finish, the hair takes on a very sexy, easy Lanvin feel”.
Keeping the look carefree, makeup was focused on dark but clean eye shadow and jumbo lashes.
VALENTINO A/W14
It was love at first sight when we fixed eyes on the bubble ponytail at Valentino’s runway show. The best part is, this hair trend is super easy to recreate. Adding playfulness to the collection, hair was simply parted through the centre and pulled back into a low pony, the bubble effect created by hair elastics spaced evenly through. “The collection this season felt more eclectic, so I wanted the hair at Valentino to be more whimsical and playful”, said Guido.
To recreate the look at home:
1. Apply Redken guts 10 root targeted volume spray foam to damp hair and blow-dry hair straight
2. Create a clean center part and comb hair straight back creating slight lift at the crown
3. Gather hair into a low ponytail and secure with elastic
4. Place elastics every 2-3 inches down the ponytail pulling each elastic to puff out the hair
5. Finish with Redken forceful 23 super strength finishing spray
DIOR A/W14
Creating an urban look for the designer, Guido Palau easily incorporated street style looks for the runway. A flattened slick do on the crown let the back of the hair fall straight while the models walked the runway. The sporty and sophisticated look was created using Redken forceful 23 in Super Strength. “I wanted to create a wearable hairstyle that would be translatable for everyday women, while still incorporating sculptural elements to the design” said Palau.
Paired with dramatic metallic eyes, eyebrows were also tinted and blended with gold shadow for a shimmery effect.
STELLA MCCARTNEY A/W14
Sally Hansen nailed the nude trend at Stella McCartney‘s show during Paris Fashion Week. Custom blended colours of barely blush, nudes and sheers strutted down the runway complimenting the bold textures and sophisticated colour palette of the designer’s collection and the skin tone of each model.
Makeup artist Pat McGrath kept the look gorgeous with natural beauty beaming down the runway. Brown shadow on the eyes and a pop of pink cream blush to the cheeks kept it minimal with a hint of brown mascara to keep the look natural and effortless. Hairstylist Eugene Souleiman gave models loose, textured ponytails with centre partings. Pure perfection!
CELINE A/W14
Guido Palau used this simple twisted ponytail to bring alive the collection’s unique style. Tightly pulling the hair into a low ponytail and adding texture through the ripples, this clean cut style was everything the show needed. “I wanted the product to hold the lines created and I raked my fingers through the hair. This technique made the style feel masculine in a way.”
Dark and decorative eyebrows drawn onto the models dramatised the look with minimal foundation. Some looks incorporated neon shadow on the eyes to compliment the designer’s collection.
