Melbourne Cup Carnival is more than just fashion, frivolity and fun. It’s also about the food, with many high profile Australian chefs putting on outstanding menus for guests in the various marquees in the Birdcage.
At the Lavazza Bar, it was all about the glorious food from Italy. As previewed by Couturing, Lavazza’s chefs delivered exceptional delicious Italian delights over the Cup carnival with pizzas from DOC, Ravioli from Pilu at Freshwater, and Gnocchi from Baby.
Not forgetting the dessert, amazing bombolinis and the signature Grand Cru Eclair chocolate from Cacao were on offer to accompany the Gran Riserva special reserve blend coffee by Lavazza.
Over at the Schweppes Bar by Broadsheet, some of Melbourne’s favourite restaurants, Chin Chin, The Estelle, Saigon Sally and Saint Crispin and Chingon prepared some of their signature dishes, only miniature!
Not forgetting one of the main attractions at the Schweppes Bar, the drinks list! Cocktails from some of Melbourne’s best bars served up some of their signature drinks including the Pimms Rangoon from Seamstress, Winner Winner from Bar Ampere, Venezualan Thunder from the Beaufort and The Flemington Fling, the signature cocktail of the Melbourne Cup carnival.
At the Myer Marquee, the food was in line with the Australiana theme, with some of Australia’s iconic treats, including mini jaffles, steak sandwiches and mini pavlovas.
With such fantastic food on offer during the Melbourne Cup carnival, who said Spring racing was only about Fashion and horses?
