November in Melbourne is usually associated with fashion and horses as the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival kicks off Spring fun, or Movember is also when men begin their journey to groom fantastical moustaches without the stigma of society (and their girlfriends). However, what many Melbournians don’t know is that November is also a month filled with numerous food adventures.
Melbourne is at the centre of biggest food celebration of the calendar year, with many great events, markets, festivals, and restaurants to try! We’ve done the hard work for you so that you can spend more time satisfying your inner foodie.
The Age Good Food Month
Running for the full length of November, the inaugural Good Food Month is an extravaganza of food in all its glory. With some of Melbourne’s top restaurants signing up to take part in this wonderful concept, there is little doubt you won’t be going hungry in November. We’ve found a few spots that will promise to deliver some of the best culinary experiences from around with world.

Night Noodle Markets
The low down: An Asian-inspired hawker market. Some of Melbourne’s favourite restaurants (such as Longrain, Mamak and Wonderbao) are setting up shop to bring you the best of Asian street-food on the scenic banks of the Yarra.

American Block Party
The low down: A block party celebrating street culture and community spirit with street food. Common Man and Bohemian serve up everything from paella to pinxto and pork to pies, for the ultimate street-food experience.

Degustation DOC
The low down: A degustation of DOC’s hero offerings, matched with a DOC drink, providing great insight into the Modern Italian gastro-dome that is DOC.
Cost: $35, including matching artisan beer, soft drink or wine.

Mamasita Tacos
The low down: Fulfil your late night cravings with three of Mamasita’s famous Mexican city soft-shell tacos.

Miss Katie’s Crab Shack
The low down: MissKatie’s Crab Shack will be hosting the inaugural Fried Chicken & Crab Bash. You’ll get a taste of the famous blue swimmer crab boil, finger-licking fried chicken, Deep South clam chowder and home-style masa corn bread.

Trailer Park
The low down: As part of The Age Good Food Month, Food Trucks have united to one location to bring Melbournians a custom-made food court. With Fusion Fish and Chips, Iv’s Burritos, Yogurddiction and Trailer Made just a taste of what to expect. There is no need to jump around town for your next Food Truck fix! With fully licensed bar and proper seating arrangements, the Park will definitely be buzzing with some friendly competition.

The Taste of Melbourne
The low down: This annual event is a food-lovers paradise culminating in some of the finest restaurants and produce that Melbourne and Regional Victoria have to offer. This year’s offering come in the form of Chin Chin; Movida; Mamasita and the increasingly delicious Huxtaburger to tantalise your taste buds with their signature dishes.

The Night Market at Queen Vic
The low down: With the summer month’s just around the corner and the days getting warmer and longer; the Night Markets is easily one of the best ways to enjoy Melbourne after hours. Every Wednesday, the Queen VictoriaMarket transforms into a food heaven offering traditional street-food favourites such as Spanish paella; Argentinean BBQ; Korean potato sticks; and Belgium Waffles.

Johnston Street Fiesta 2013
The low down: The Johnston Street festival also showcases Melbourne diversity, celebrating Spanish and Hispanic food and culture. Be sure to bring along your dancing shoes, as it is more than likely you will be doing the salsa as you sip your sangria.

Bendigo Food and Wine Expo
The low down: Why not take a road-trip down to Bendigo and discover new products and gather new recipes from more than 150 exhibitors in the food and wine industry. Hosted by many of your MasterChef favourites like JustineSchofield from Season 1; Bendigo is the perfect weekend getaway destination.
