Converse celebrated the launch of their much anticipated collaboration with Maison Martin Margiela with a star-studded bash during New York Fashion Week. Guests included R&B Artist Ne-Yo, Actor Cuba Gooding Jr., Designer Chris Benz, Celebrity Stylist June Ambrose, DJ’s Mia Moretti and Caitlin Moe, Stylist Nicola Formichetti, President of Only The Brave (OTB) Renzo Rosso, Actress Kat Graham, DJ Becka Diamond, Public School founders Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osbourne.
The shoes from the collaboration were showcased in typical Margiela fashion, with creative, artistic installations staying true to the design houses’ aesthetic. As well as viewing the new collection, guests were treated to music from some of the most talented artists today including DJ Glenn O’Brien, DJ AAron Bondaroff and the Know WaveCrew.
Margiela’s first time Converse collaboration features the Chuck Taylor All Star and Jack Purcell sneakers, each completely hand painted in Margiela’s iconic white paint. As the shoes get worn, and the paint wears off, the true colour shows through, giving each item a unique personality.
The Converse x Maison Martin Margiela collaboration will be available to purchase globally at Maison Martin Margiela boutiques and also in limited quantities at Up There Store Melbourne from 21 September for $300.
