New York Fashion Week 2013 was another whirlwind of successful runway shows, celebrities, colour, beauty, fun and frivolity. This year’s Spring 2014 collection for Lulu Frost, “Neon Baroque”, was no different. Gail Garcia, makeup artist for Bobbi Brown, created a look for the collection by drawing inspiration from the title of the show itself. She took vintage 18th century and merged it with the new bright colours and neons of today, creating a look that’s part punk, part princess and, as noted by Garcia, very reminiscent of Coppola’s Marie Antoinette.
Garcia’s makeup look emphasised lips with a bright pop colour and cheeks, with a soft feminine rosiness in pink. The eye was subtle and pulled back, but defined which gives an overall youthful, soft and feminine makeup.
In order to get the perfect base, skin was prepped with the Hydrating Face Cream ($82) then the Long-Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation ($78) was used for a full-coverage flawless base, which was then set with powder.
The artists used White Eyeshadow ($44) all over the lid and defined the crease with Bone Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow ($44) and finished the eye with a flick of Everything Mascara ($48).
The candy coloured cheeks were Pale Pink Blush ($58) which was applied on to the apples of the cheeks and blended out beautifully. Next the Brightening Finishing powder ($90) was applied to the apple of the cheek and the cheekbones to add highlight and glow. Lips created impact with Electric Violet Rich Lip Colour ($44), the lipsticks debut. It will be available in stores in early 2014.
