Daughter of Birkin, half-sister to Gainsbourg, actress and model; the unexpected musical talent Lou Doillon plays a pivotal role to designer Yeojin Bae’s inspiration for spring summer. Drawn to her haunting vocals on lead track I.C.U, Bae effortlessly embodies the raw and renounced lyrics and reinterprets through YB J’AIME’s design.
Drawing on the pivotal signature of the collection, Bae develops four delicate original silk prints for the season. Animal motifs are reworked true to brand in YB J’AIME’s colour palette of French navy and tan. Playful hand-drawn bow patterns in bold monochromatic hues, a blossoming bright peach garden scene and abstract emerald and fuchsia shawl shapes balance out the timeless essence of the screen-printed contribution.
Sharp tailoring, form-fitting hand embroidery and clean-cut out bodices juxtapose the ethereal textile selection. Surprising silhouettes reveal a fresh innovative coupling of capes with contoured pencil skirts as Bae directs a new definition of summertime suiting.
Relinquishing labels and presumption, Doillon’s soundtrack speaks of desperate love, wandering despair and enlightened hope in husky post-rock tone. I See You cocoons its wearer in carefree confidence; sensual, chic and ready to break-down barriers with effortless ease. The continuing success of YB J’AIME in leading department store MYER, sees Bae extends her reach to be stocked exclusively across 8 MYER stores.
