“My garden is my most beautiful masterpiece.” – Claude Monet
When I travel overseas, I usually make the effort to check out all the cool galleries, museums and exhibits, but at home, I must admit, I don’t make nearly half as much effort to get cultured as I should. Particularly as Melbourne is never short of things to do and see. I’m loving our To Do List, released every Monday which gives you a snapshot of things you can do during the week.
After reading about the Monet Exhibition I decided to check it out with some of my girlfriends. I’d seen a few of Monet’s famous waterlilly paintings overseas, but beyond that, I didn’t know much about his work or the Impressionist era of art.
Monet’s Garden is dedicated to Monet’s iconic garden at Giverny in Northern France which still stands today. Monet was famous for painting series of canvases focusing on a particular subject through all different times of the day. The moving sun meant colours and shadows gave each painting a different look. Monet sometimes had up to 9 canvases on the go at once, showing the skill of this talented painter.
Monet very much lead the Impressionist movement. His passion was nature, with Monet’s passion painting his lush garden in Giverny.
The exhibit is the perfect escape for the Winter cold so make sure you make time to visit this exhibit which is a once in a lifetime experience.
