PARIS FASHION WEEK MEN’S STREETSTYLE

With the world turning its head to Paris for PFW, it was the Parisian Men’s turn to weigh in on the sartorial stakes.

As we saw in London, New York and Milan, layering is key this year. The men of Paris adopted a cleaner looking, subtle approach to layering with turtlenecks and blazers the pieces of choice – offsetting more casual shirts and jeans.

The Parisians were perhaps more reserved in their dressing as compared to their intercontinental counterparts, with simple dressing and minor detailing a key look. There were no attention-seeking prints here or eye-popping accessories, just well dressed men.

It is possible to draw from a more artisan style here, where textures and looks were simple, raw and utilitarian. Deconstructed coats and rough seams noted looks, whilst perfectly orchestrated styles like this turtleneck look contrasted.

Colour was also used sparingly, a simple detail Men should note for winter dressing this year. Colour blocked pants or turtlenecks don’t compete for attention, but do catch your eye.

Couturing suggests dressing easily for the year, with attention to detail and layering. Don’t spend too much time in the mirror though; add a printed or coloured scarf for classic styling. Dress shoes or boots can always be dressed down if worn without socks or with cropped trousers.

Stick to staples and style basics whilst also adding a hint of flare with print socks, tie or neckerchief. Turtlenecks are also set to be big; even if you did begrudge them in your childhood, try one on for size this winter.
