On a sunny Sunday afternoon, 200 wine aficionados gathered for a day of great wine, food and entertainment at the stunning Domaine Chandon in Melbourne’s Yarra Valley. Guests were treated to a carefully selected range of Chandon’s finest vintages that were coupled with complimentary garden inspired dishes. The highlight was a beautiful custard and berry dessert, covered in a layer of chocolate crumble, topped off with edible flowers served in a little terracotta pot.
Upon entering the venue, through a custom made garden door, guests were greeted with a sea of white helium balloons, each one containing a guest’s name. Once each guest had taken their gift, clusters of balloons began to spread across the garden, creating a fun, party atmosphere.
Domaine Chandon was transformed into a colourful, relaxed setting. Guests reclined on cute white settings dotted with bright pillows and listened to the haunting voice of Claire Bowditch. Lawn twister, croquet and a giant chess set provided great entertainment, and the garden itself was decorated with a wooden Chandon swing, bright Chandon mobile, a field of pink flamingos, a wheatgrass forest and a Chandon Airstream van serving wine and food. The most popular feature, however, was the custom-made grass elephant by Flowers by Vassette; this gentle giant proved popular with those looking for a great photo opportunity and the chance to meet the most down-to-earth guest.
Joining the wine lovers was Charlie Pickering, Eddie Perfect and Jane Harber from Offspring, model Sophie Van Den Akker, Richard Davies and ex-footballer Nathan Brown.
After the success of Domaine Chandon’s first Secret Garden party, it is likely to become an annual event so make sure you sign up to Club Chandon to stay up to date with all Chandon news.
