When YSL first launched OPIUM in 1977 he had a very particular kind of woman in mind: elegant, stylish with a piercing intelligence and languorous beauty, she moved in sophisticated social circles, and left her mark on all whose lives lives she passed through.
Cut to present day. Still with that same boyish insouciance that comes with the knowledge of who she is and what she wants, a new character emerges, a woman whose sheer presence forces her way into our subconscious. Dramatic, restless, she’s a complex intermix of darkness and light, feminine sensuality; playful but serious at the same time. And the newest face for the newest OPIUM fragrance captures the essence of YSL’s beauty evolved through the ages.
BLACK OPIUM is the latest fragrance to join the OPIUM range and the face, Edie Campbell, captures the dramatic elegance of the new YSL fragrance. London-born model, Edie Campbell, winner of Model of the Year 2013, was selected as BLACK OPIUM’s ambassadress because of her natural fit with being beautiful yet edgy, something that BLACK OPIUM is all about.
Created by perfumers Nathalie Lorson, Marie Salamagne, Honorine Blanc and Olivier Cresp, BLACK OPIUM plays on the intense pay-off that happens when darkness meets luminescence. This new generation oriental gourmand is a move away from the classic perfume with scents of shot of caffeine, crisp notes of pear and electric pink pepper and light white flowers to tie the fragrance together.
Playing on the incongruity between the bitterness of the coffee bean accord, an ingredient never used before in such a high quantity in a feminine fragrance and radiant white flowers – jasmine sambac and absolu of fleur d’oranger tied with vanilla and woody notes of cedar and patchouli, BLACK OPIUM gives a unique twist to the fragrance world.
BLACK OPIUM is now available at Myer, David Jones, Adorebeauty.com and selected pharmacies for $90 30ml.
